Room Darkening vs. Blackout: What Is the Difference?

Room darkening shades allow some light to filter into the room and provides enhanced privacy, creating a dimmed environment ideal for reducing screen glare, and improving privacy. Ambient light still enters around the edges. Deeper fabric colors will darken the room more than lighter offerings but these do not completely block light like a blackout shade. If you want more darkness, consider our Blackout Shades and Blinds instead. We often find customers order free samples to test the level of light control in their space before purchasing.
